- What can I use the Findshops.com Inventory System for?
Findshops.com allows you to create and manage an inventory of items that can be integrated into your existing website or used alone. It allows you to define what sort of inventory you are using (e.g. products, services, etc), enter the inventory items and permit end-users to seach and view the inventory items.
- Who should use the Findshops.com Inventory System?
Any organization, club, business or individual who wants to put an inventory listing on-line will find our system useful. For instance, if you have a library of books for your organization, you can easily use our system to post the book titles on-line and let your organizational members view and search them. Or if you have an auto parts store, you can also use our system to make it easier for your customers to check parts availability. Or if you have a used records store, you can use our system to keep an on-line inventory of your titles and tell you customers to search on-line. There are numerous other situations where this system may be useful.
- How does it work?
Basically there are four steps: A. You register. You register for our service.
B. You define your inventory list Using our simple interface, you tell us what kind of items your list contains (e.g. products, services, books, etc)
C. Enter inventory items Using our simple interface, you enter the item information (e.g. tile, description, etc).
D. Tell your customers/clients where to search. End Users can search and view your inventory listing using a web page; we call it the 'Index Page' (which we automatically create for you). You can tell your users to go to the Index Page URL (put it on your business cards, receipts, ads etc)...better yet if you have a web-site you can have a link from it to the Search Page.
- What do I need to use the Inventory System?
Obviously you need to have an inventory listing of some sort which you want to put on-line. For our free accounts, there is a 5 inventory limit with each inventory having a 250 item limit.
- Do I have to install software?
No, it's all done on-line.
- Can I use the service if I don't have my own web-site?
Yes. Since you will be provided with the URL for your own customized Index Page where your users can search your inventory items, just tell your members to go to that Index Page URL.
- Can I use the service and make the products 'orderable' so that it can be just like an on-line store?
No. For now, our services are designed for on-line catalogs only. However, we may add 'orderable' services in the future.
- Isn't this just a 'shopping cart' type system like what everyone else offers?
No, we want to make our system as simple and easy-to-use as possible and eliminate the complexities of non-essential components. We find that many organizations/businesses need an on-line system to enhance their customers' or members' services, but not to replace their existing services. For instance, we find that a used record store owner still wants to go to his physical store each day and sell to customers directly rather than be a virtual on-line merchant (who needs the associated complexities like fraud, logistics, and shipping problems anyways?). Our system is designed to meet that specific need because it allow you to enter an inventory in minutes! (and of course update it and have it instantaneously available)
- How much does it cost?
It's free (see our mission statement to understand why). In the future, we will be offering premium services for which there may a be a charge.
